Advanced Neurodiagnostics with Comprehensive On-Site Training at Memfys Hospital Enugu
Recently, esumedics delivered a 2-channel EMG system to Memfys Hospital in Enugu, Nigeria. The system came equipped with a notebook, the intuitive Keyboard Control Panel, and a comprehensive accessory package for EMG, NCS, EP, and SEP examinations. In addition, the medical team received a multi-day, personalized on-site training led by Carsten Klaus, Head of Aftersales & Service, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical exercises.
Reliable EMG Performance Even in Challenging Environments
In early February 2026, the esumedics EMG system was commissioned at Memfys Hospital and immediately demonstrated its performance in a demanding local environment. Temperatures of up to 39°C, occasional power fluctuations, and other local conditions posed challenges for both the team and the equipment. On-site, Carsten Klaus handled the system setup, prepared the multi-day practical training, and verified measurement stability, confirming that the EMG system operates reliably even under intermittent power variations.
As one of ist kind EMG systems in Nigeria, esumedics EMG impressed with intuitive operation, stable signal quality, and precise measurement accuracy.
Hands-On Training for Precise EMG Applications
In the following days, 12 participants underwent methodical training, including a locally renowned professor from the neurology department of the university hospital, as well as medical staff and physicians from surrounding hospitals.
Carsten Klaus guided participants step by step through the fundamentals of motor and sensory neurography, F-waves, myasthenia tests, sympathetic skin responses, and heart rate variability. On the second day, evoked potentials—AEP, VEP, and SEP, including some multi-channel recordings—were demonstrated and practiced extensively. Through hands-on exercises and targeted instruction, participants could directly experience the system’s capabilities.
A particular focus was placed on needle EMG, where participants deepened their skills in precise muscle activity recordings directly at the patient’s bedside. Even experienced users, such as Dr. Bibiana Oti, were impressed by the system’s stability and robustness, which consistently delivered high-quality results.
Our collaboration with esumedics for the acquisition of our new EMG/Neurography system was excellent. From delivery to final installation in Nigeria by Carsten Klaus, everything was perfectly organized. Special thanks to Mr. Klaus, who traveled to Enugu to provide intensive training. Thanks to his expertise, the entire process ran smoothly.
