New Colleague for Team Germany West

tagNews

Since mid-2024, a new colleague in the field service based in the Cologne area has been supporting us. By constantly expanding our sales and service network, we can offer you personal, reliable contacts and short response times. Below we would like to briefly introduce you to Mr. Conrad…

Experienced Medical Engineer Specializing in TMS

In the summer, we were able to gain a young, committed colleague for our constantly growing team of experts in the form of Mr. Hannes Conrad. Hannes most recently worked for many years in sales and service for a well-known Danish manufacturer of magnetic stimulators. He was primarily responsible for German customers in the field of psychiatry and neurology. After training as an electrician and subsequent further training as a medical engineer, Hannes was able to gain his first valuable professional experience at the University Hospital of Cologne before his path led him to magnetic stimulation via service activities in oncology.

We are delighted that Hannes will be bringing his extensive knowledge as a TMS expert to Esumedics GmbH in the future. Since he started, he has also been able to demonstrate his competence in the field of EEG/EMG on several occasions through extensive further training measures. Hannes Conrad is your contact in sales and service for our esumedics EEG and EMG systems as well as suitable accessories such as magnetic stimulators. Our customers from the Cologne and NRW area really appreciate his friendliness and targeted support.

In close cooperation with our regional German distributor Rolf Bark, Hannes Conrad is responsible for our customers in German Northrhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Rhineland Palatinate.

I am grateful for the warm welcome I received when I joined the Esumedics GmbH team. I am also very pleased to be able to contribute my experience to a company that is based in Germany and stands for quality products MADE IN GERMANY. This means we can offer our customers pleasantly short shipping and service routes.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation as a Useful Addition to EMG Routine Diagnostics (MEP)

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is an important method in neurological diagnostics, which is increasingly becoming established as a therapeutic procedure. The most common diagnostic application of TMS is to test the function of the connection between the primary motor cortex and the target muscle. As part of the routine examination in neurological functional diagnostics, this procedure is used daily in many neurological clinics and practices. Damage to the central and peripheral motor pathways can be detected using TMS. When using TMS diagnostically, at least 5-6 consecutive MEPs are recorded with supramaximal single stimulation over the surface of the head, whereby only the MEP with the largest amplitude and the shortest latency is taken into account. This allows a statement to be made about the integrity of the fastest conducting fibers of the pyramidal tract. TMS is therefore particularly important in the diagnosis of diseases of the motor nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, movement disorders or diseases of the spinal cord.

In multiple sclerosis, damage to the pyramidal tract caused by inflammatory lesions can be detected with high sensitivity using TMS. A similarly high diagnostic value is achieved in cervical myelopathy and other spinal cord diseases. After a stroke, the inability to trigger MEPs when stimulating the ipsilesional motor cortex in the acute phase of the stroke predicts poor recovery from motor deficits. TMS is also increasingly being used therapeutically as a non-invasive neuromodulatory tool. Depending on the stimulation frequency, repetitive stimulation procedures can induce activity changes in the stimulated brain area that last beyond the duration of the stimulation. rTMS can bring about significant clinical improvement in various neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Combined with the esumedics EMG, you are well equipped for daily challenges in muscle and nerve diagnostics. Our user-friendly and powerful software supports you in achieving meaningful test results in both EMG and MEP and gaining more security in everyday work processes.
